Ragam ‘Bhogavasantham’ is one of the rarest of the rare janya raga; there is no evidence found as to who has created this raga, since the earlier books do not give any idea about this raga. The first composition we find is by H.H. Jayachamaraja Wodeyar, “amba sree Rajarajeswari’. Perhaps this may be the only krithi, originally composed in this raga. This raga is a janya of mela (51) Kamavardhani (Panthuvarali); without Panchamam, so that the notes will be:
S R1 G3 M2 D1 N3 S // S N3 D1 M2 G3 R1 S
Ragapravaham by D.Pattammal gives two types of ragas with this same name, the first being a janya of mela (15) Mayamalavagoula (with Suddha madhyamam):
S R1 G3 M1 P D1 S // S N3 M1 G3 R1 S
And the second, of course, a janya of mela (51) Kamavardhani (with prathi madhyamam):
S R1 G3 M2 D1 N3 S // S N3 D1 M2 G3 R1 S
‘Amba Sri Rajarajeswari’ by JCW is a very profound composition on Sri Vidya, with wonderful, meaningful lyrics.

In the charanam, the composer has included the name of Goddess Sri Vidya, as also the raga-mudra. (The Vadirajar composition ‘Krishna Murari Kesava murari’ is being sung in Bhogavasantha)
